I love paper. Period.

The colours, textures, properties, designs - even the smell!
And I love that it can be folded, cut, glued, molded, torn or left just as is to be admired.

I have been making cards for so long that I honestly can't remember when I began. However, it was in December 1987, that it became a full-time occupation.  As I have often told an artist friend, I can't draw AT ALL with pencils or pastels!  But for some reason shapes seem to almost draw themselves when I put scissors to paper.  One strong influence I had in my life was the result of a set of books given to me from an artist in an adjacent studio.  Claude gifted me with some old books about a paper sculptor years ago who cut and folded magnificent displays for some of the better known shops in New York.  I started browsing those books early in the evening and I didn't stop until dawn the next day.  Seeing those amazing and intricate paper shapes made a profound impression on me.  I realized for the first time that there are other people 'out there' who spend their lives cutting and folding and gluing bits of paper just as I love to do.  Paper card-making is my heart's desire and it is an obsession I will spend the rest of my life pursuing and learning about.  That's really all there is to tell you ABOUT GillianCards.

Here are a few snaps of cards in my studio.  I will add more pictures over time.
